Cathy Moss, President, International Chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood

Cathy Moss is president of International Chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She became a

member of local P.E.O. chapter DY in Grand Junction, Colorado, in 1989. Cathy is now living in Louisville, Kentucky, and is a member of Chapter E.

Cathy was appointed as the Texas State Chapter P.E.O. Continuing Education Chair in 1998 and served in this capacity for two years. She was elected to the executive board of P.E.O.’s Texas State Chapter in 2000 and presided at the 2006 Convention of Texas State Chapter in El Paso. She was appointed to the board of trustees for the P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education in 2006 and served as chair from 2009-2011. She served on the Nominating Committee of International Chapter from 2011-2013 and served as a Regional Membership Representative from 2013-2015.

Cathy grew up on a large farm in western Ohio and graduated with a degree in social science from Ball State University. After graduation, she was a ready-to-wear buyer for L.S. Ayres in Indianapolis.

Cathy has two sons, six grandchildren and a black lab. She is a member of Bardstown Road Presbyterian Church, Lakeside Swim Club, the Speed Art Museum and the Cherokee Triangle Association. Cathy enjoys a wide range of interests and activities; she is a yoga and fitness enthusiast, a certified ice hockey coach, a Life Master Bridge player and is a world traveler.

Alix Smith, First Vice President, International Chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood

Alix Smith is first vice president of International Chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. Born in Fort Huachuca, Arizona, Alix grew up in Bisbee and, in 1992, became a member of her mother’s P.E.O. chapter, T. Later, Alix transferred to Chapter AY in Phoenix, where she is still a member.

Alix was appointed to Arizona’s P.E.O. Educational Loan Fund Committee for two years prior to being elected to the Arizona State Chapter executive board in 2002; she presided at the 2009 Arizona convention. In 2009, Alix was appointed to a six-year term on P.E.O.’s International Finance and Audit Committees and was elected to serve as an investment trustee for the P.E.O. Foundation; she served as chairman of the committees from 2013-2015.

In 1992, Alix graduated from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff with a bachelor’s degree in accountancy. In 1999, she graduated from Arizona State University in Tempe with a master’s degree in taxation. Alix is a Certified Public Accountant and is currently employed as the Chief Executive Officer for Salt River Devco, a real estate development and asset management company owned by the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, adjacent to Scottsdale, Arizona. Alix has been involved in commercial real estate finance and accounting for over 20 years.

In addition to her P.E.O. and work responsibilities, Alix enjoys traveling, reading, knitting and other hand-crafts, hiking, baking and time with her family of four older brothers, six nieces, five nephews and one spoiled cat, Milo.

Kathryn (Kay) Ebert, Second Vice President, International Chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood

Kay Ebert is second vice president of International Chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. Growing up in Honolulu, Hawaii, Kay was given the gift of P.E.O. by Chapter C, Hawaii. She now lives in Vancouver, Washington, where she is a member of Chapter IN.

Kay served as president of Washington State Chapter from 2012-2013 and was appointed to a six-year term on the Study and Research Committee of International Chapter in 2013, culminating in the appointment as chairman of that committee for the 2017-19 biennium. She is a member of the National Association of Parliamentarians.

Kay attended Beloit College in Wisconsin. For over 30 years, her professional career focused on employee safety and health, the majority of that time with a regional airline and the remainder with grocery warehousing and transport. Her focus was on providing tools, training and removing barriers so that employees could excel at their jobs while still enjoying their lives away from work.

Kay and her husband, Alan, have four children and six grandchildren.

Jennifer G. Mitchell, Organizer, International Chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood

Jennifer G. Mitchell is organizer of International Chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. A third-generation P.E.O., she became a member of the Sisterhood in 1989.

Jennifer, a past president of Florida State Chapter, was appointed to the P.E.O. Leadership Development Committee in 2019 and most recently served as chairman.

Graduating with honors from the University of Florida, Jennifer earned a degree in mechanical engineering. She also has postsecondary MBA courses from the University of South Alabama. She worked in paper manufacturing as a process engineer, power plant shift foreman, Environmental Health & Safety Regulations coordinator and paper machine engineer.

Jennifer currently holds a blue belt in the martial art Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. She is active in her church and taught women’s Bible studies for over a decade. She also enjoys listening to podcasts that explore leadership, motivation and behavior. She and her husband, Brent, an electrical engineer, live in Melbourne, Florida. They have two daughters.

Jennifer is currently a member of her original initiating chapter, EM, Melbourne, Florida. She has also been a member of H, Mobile, Alabama; AY, Lawrenceville, Georgia; and HJ, Melbourne, Florida. P.E.O. has enriched Jennifer's life through the opportunities provided to her through her service and the relationships she has developed with amazing women throughout our Sisterhood.

Kathryn Bayne, Recording Secretary, International Chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood

Kathryn Bayne is recording secretary of International Chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. A second generation P.E.O., she was initiated into P.E.O. at the age of 18, into Chapter OB, California, her mother’s chapter.

Kathryn, a past president of Maryland State Chapter, served on the P.E.O. Scholar Awards Board of Trustees from 2011-2017, chairing the board from 2015-2017. In 2018, she joined the Cottey College Board of Trustees, serving as chair for two terms.

Kathryn earned her veterinary medical degree, master’s degree in experimental psychology and her doctorate degree in wildlife biology at Washington State University. She is board certified in laboratory animal medicine and in animal welfare and is a certified applied animal behaviorist.

In addition to her love for P.E.O., Kathryn’s passions include her pets (currently three dogs and two cats), gardening, travel, wildlife conservation and reading. She and husband, Mark Haines, divide their time between their 100-acre farm in Maryland and their beach house on Amelia Island, Florida. Other volunteer activities include Frederick County’s Adopt-A-Road program and serving on the Pets for Vets Advisory Team.
